Kill Them With This Deadly Homemade Roach Bait
If you've read my other page already then you know that roaches are attracted to the food you have. You know they will eat just about anything to ensure their survival, but what about when they can afford a little luxury? What do they really like to eat? What gets their mouth watering? Why bother asking these questions? The answer to that is simple; you can turn that knowledge into a powerful weapon that will kill them. I'll show you how to on this page.
Can You Say Not To A Juicy Steak?
For most of us normal people, it's hard to say no to a fattening greasy piece of meat (like a juicy steak). Just writing that already makes my mouth water. Most normal roaches like them just as much.
The smell of your steak sizzling in butter smells like heaven to you, and isn't just you. That will definitely catch the attention of any nearby roaches as well. Once you've grabbed their attention, they will force their way in if they have to. They need to check out what smells so great and see if they can sneak in a few bites.
Steak is just an example. Anything greasy and fat will do.
Can’t Say No to Sugar
Who doesn't love sweets? Sugar, chocolate, brownies, cookies, cake, pies, soda pop, and whatever else that satisfies our sweet tooth. You love them, I love them and the roaches love them too (maybe even more). The only difference between us and them is they have very little preference. They aren't picky. I'm sure you have your favorites just like I have mine. For the roaches, all they ask is that it's sweet.
Rotten? It’s Still Stinkin’ Good!
Finally something we don't have in common with the roaches in terms of food preferences. That is unless you like spoiled and rotting food. I'm going to assume you don't and I'm going to assume that most of us don't either. Food that has gone bad will produce a very strong smell. We detest that, but cockroaches love it.
When you leave out food and allow it to go bad, you're basically inviting all nearby roaches to come in and enjoy the feast. This is the same for trash that isn't taken out.
Making Our Weapon of Mass Roach Deaths
Remember earlier I did that we would turn this knowledge of their food preferences into a weapon to kill them? No we aren't going to flatten then with a steak. Nor are we going to crush then with cakes and pies. We are going to make ourselves a potent chemical weapon using commonly available ingredients.
What you are going to need is boric acid, or borax. These two are similar, but not identical; although they do produce the same results. What we'll be making is a deadly homemade roach bait. Bait, is why we needed to know what roaches love to eat. If we set out poison with no bait, there is no way they'll eat it. But when we mix it with their favorite foods, it's almost a guaranteed because now you and I both know they love to eat.
There are two ways to go about this. One, you can mix boric acid/borax with sugar, butter, or lard and water. Just use a one to one ratio and mix well. You want to be able to form the mixture into a ball. If it's too runny, add a little more boric acid. If it's too dry, add a little more water. Form small balls the size of your finger. Then flatten the bottom so it stays in one place.
You can now place these homemade roach baits in various places.
The other way is to choose a piece of food you know roaches will die for and light dust it in the boric acid or borax. Just sit them out in high roach traffic areas. Make sure you use something to hold the poisoned food in so it doesn't leave stains. Use something flat like wax paper or small disposable plates.
Not only can you use this valuable information to kill them, you can also use it to help prevent them from invading your home. Just make sure to keep the roach baits out of reach from children and pets. They aren't as toxic as some of the other stuff you can buy, but you still don't want them eating it.
